Course Overview
This self-paced online course builds foundational understanding of learning disabilities and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), including how they affect learning, behaviour, well-being, and everyday success.
The course introduces key concepts and practical strategies to support learners across school, home, work, and community contexts.

What You’ll Learn
By the end of this course, learners will have a stronger understanding of:
- what learning disabilities (LDs) and ADHD are, and how they can affect learning and everyday life
- common signs, contributing factors, and areas of strength and need
- how identification and diagnosis may support planning and intervention
- practical ways to support individuals with LDs and ADHD across different settings
- how to connect understanding to action through strategies, resources, and reflection
Time Commitment
Core content requires approximately 7 to 10 hours to complete. With reflection activities and curated resources, learners may engage for 20+ hours in total.
Access Period
Participants will have six months of access to the course materials from the date of enrollment. Extensions may be granted upon request.
Format
Self-paced, online learning featuring short videos, reflection activities, practical examples, and curated resources.
Certificate
Participants who complete this course will receive a Certificate of Completion issued by the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario (LDAO).
This course is part of LDAO’s three-course Professional Learning Certificate Series on Learning Disabilities and ADHD.
Learners who complete all three courses in the series will earn the LDAO Professional Learning Certificate: Learning Disabilities and ADHD.
This professional learning certificate recognizes completion of LDAO professional learning courses. It does not represent professional certification, qualification, or authorization to assess, diagnose, or provide specialized intervention.
